That’s right… you can win this painting – “Sin City Love” if you come closest in guessing my finishing time in the 2012 Key Bank Vermont City Marathon.  All you have to do is go to the following link (www.jasonandrewbodnar.com) where you can provide your name, email address, and of course, your estimation of my finishing time in the comments option under the pertinent post and you are entered to win.  On Sunday May 27, 2012, I will be running in my second marathon race.  For my first marathon race, I participated in the 2010 New York City Marathon where I finished with a time of 4:03:15.  Naturally, I hope to improve upon my former finishing time and thus I will be high-fiving the marathon supporters a bit less this time around.  The weather may also be a factor for the Vermont City Marathon as last years race saw a humid day with temperatures in the mid eighties – this may slow down many runners.  For those who donated in my 2010 Marathon Raffle (you know who you are) please feel free to make two guesses at my finishing time.  The winner will be determined after the race and will receive the painting “Sin City Love” in early June.  Thank you for your support and good luck!

It has been four long years without my paintbrushes, but I am happy to say that I am working on canvas once again – and it feels better than it ever has!  I forgot how much I enjoyed painting.  When I explained my hiatus from working on canvas fto olks, I would simply ask them what the first four letters of the word painting spelled.  So far in 2012, I do not feel any pain when I use my paintbrushes.  This piece is called “Ode To Aphrodite” and it was a commission to my friend Caitlyn.  The geometric shapes within the composition represent a code that conveys two stanzas from the Greek poetess Sappho. Stay tuned for more compositions as the commissions for more artwork from my studio are accumulating…

It was a perfect day for a perfect run in the five boroughs and my first Marathon experience is complete. The freezing cold winds of the lower tier of the Verrazano Bridge nudged me into a pace that far exceeded my expectations.  Along the way, the crowds that lined the streets supported thousands of runners with cheers of encouragement that boosted everyones spirit.  For me, the last mile and a half was indeed a personal battle, but I dug deep within me and I dropped the hammer and finished strong.  On my way out of Central Park I gave an interview with Fox News and explained my experience in the 2010 New York City Marathon.
